A good win in difficult conditions. The boys took on board what was asked of them, showing lots of energy & making a breakthrough after an even start to the game. The Exiles took the lead via a lovely finish from Alex Chase, converting a well placed cross from Owain Harries. A well placed Aled Rees free kick from 25 yards doubled the lead before a stinging Mark Lewis free kick, from around 35 yards, proved unstoppable and sent us 3-0 up at the break.
Ellis Pickering put the Exiles 4-0 up, cooly finishing off a well worked passing move & getting on the end of a delightful through ball by Aled Rees.
Glamorgan pulled on back shortly after to keep their hopes of a dramatic comeback alive.
Simon Fisher then made it 5-1, lofting the ball into the net from the edge of the box, after Gideon Ernest’s pressure caused the keeper to spill the ball into his path.
As conditions worsened & the exertions of the first half started to take their toll, Glamorgan applied aerial pressure from set pieces, eventually scoring a second from a scrappy corner with around 15-20 mins to go.
The Exiles displayed maturity as the stayed solid at the back & used the ball well when in possession, seeing the game out with aplomb.
This was performance that lays the foundations on which we can build, and start a good run of form.
